The Digital Library of Intellectual Production, University of São Paulo (USP), integrated with the open access movement and the Open Archives Initiatives (OAI), has the following objectives: • Make public and accessible the knowledge generated by research undertaken at USP, encouraging the sharing, the use and generation of new content; • Increase the visibility of academic production (artistic, bibliographical, scientific and technical), USP; • Preserving institutional memory by storing the full text of Intellectual Production; • Increase the impact of the knowledge generated in the university in the scientific community and the general public. The USP Digital Library of Intellectual Production, presents articles as content and materials science journals published between 2008-2011, prioritizing open access materials. Developed with free software DSpace, worries about interoperability with other databases and adopts international standards such as DRIVER Project, OAI/PMH protocols (collection and dissemination), SWORD (deposit) and Z39.50 (recovery). With the architecture specially designed to be stored in different types of academic production of each unit / department of education and research at USP, the Digital Library Production Intellectual configures itself also as an important tool for generating qualified indicators about the University.
